Build2Win sponsored four public forums from March to November in 2025 to gather residents’ ideas of what they would like to see as a counter vision for the Town Square proposal by Mr. Steve Neighbors, Trustee for the Hop and Mae Adams Foundation. Some workshops were attended by Mr. Metcalf, representing Mr. Neighbors.
The Residents’ Choice: Town Square Reimagined is for Phase II only of the Foundation’s proposal.
These suggestions emphasize the project’s sustainability, profitability for the Foundation and have the full support of residents. We need a project fully supported by our residents and local businesses to avoid having a massive vacant structure 20 years from now, especially downtown.
Although the Nevada Legislature brings business to the downtown area every two years, we need the residents of Carson City to support our local merchants all year round. Bringing services enjoyed by the residents without undue demand on the surrounding infrastructure will build an engaged community. Isn’t that what we want for a City that we all call our home.
If residents get involved before the project matures, we stand a better chance of making the residents’ choices known and considered. We have shared the publication with city planning staff, planning commissioners, City Manager, Board of Supervisors and Steve Neighbors, Trustee of the Foundation.
