Vote for candidates with your values. The only time you can influence elected officials is during elections. After elections, they do what they want, not what their constituents want.
After the candidate presentations at the town hall, talk to your neighbors about city officials’ decisions and statements.
What are they:
1. Prioritization of the building of a city hall using redevelopment funds and general funds when redevelopment districts expire.
2. Regional Transportation Commission Budget about the lack of prioritization of local roads maintenance.
3. FY 2027 city budget with a $36M Bond with pledged revenue from consolidated taxes.
4. $26M deferred facility maintenance to justify moving to a new building costing $36M construction costs plus financing costs.
5. No plans to reduce inventory of empty buildings such as Ormsby House, 1390 Curry Street proposed by Teri Preston for new city hall, KMart building.
If you do not know about of any one of these topics, then you need to attend the Town Hall on April 25th at 1pm. Ormsby Room, 911 E Musser Street, Carson City.
Don’t rely on others to do what will impact your investment in Carson City. Your home, your style of life. Do your part.
