Build2Win – Your voice for a better community

The year 2024 is almost over.  Build2Win held many workshops this past year to inform our Carson City residents on critical topics such as best practices in law enforcement strategies between Carson and Douglas County, updates to the city’s Master Plan, and various road funding proposals through a property tax assessment, sales tax or car registration taxes.  We also examined the city budget and held candidate forums.  While the monthly workshops have identified citizens concerns, it is clear that we need to increase our active members to influence the momentum of change and make a difference.

There were 2,550 voters who did not vote for either Mayoral candidate, 6,494 who did not vote for Supervisor Maurice White (but he was uncontested) and 3,995 voters who did not vote for either incumbent Lisa Schuette or Lucia Maloney for Ward 4 Supervisor. Local elections are consequential as these influence everyday lives of residents.  These are the people who make decisions each year on property taxes, utility rate increases, city budget allocations and spending priorities.

The residents unanimously said that they want Carson City to retain a rural small town feel at Master Plan discussion meetings, but have you seen any difference in the direction of the draft Master Plan?  Both of the road funding questions were rejected in the November election, so now what?  Will we have a General Improvement District (GID) which can be implemented by a Board of Supervisors (BOS) resolution?  Without active participation, we cannot influence our elected officials to make better choices for our city.  We want to trust our city leadership to benefit all taxpayers, but the last four years have shown deteriorating infrastructure, growth in government and non-optimization of city resources.  Can we afford to sit on the sidelines anymore?

If you think we need to change our city’s direction, join us to enable empowered and informed residents who can influence city governance within the resources available.  Tax and spending during high inflation is no longer an option for us.  Learn about the city you love.  Join Build2Win by sending an email to info@build2Win or text 775-580-4198.  Help us to spread the word.
